€10 Million for AgroPV Projects Awarded under the PNRR Call for Innovative Agrivoltaics – Total Capacity of 23 MW across Sicily and Calabria

GreenGo announces the approval of three projects under Italy’s first agrivoltaics tender, launched by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE)

The initiative selected 540 projects, totaling 1,548 MW of awarded capacity (from 643 proposals requesting 1.7 GW), with a total contribution fund of approximately €1 billion.

The approved GreenGo projects will receive a total eligible grant of €10.8 million covering investment costs, along with an average incentive tariff of €79.53 per MWh for 20 years following commissioning.

The plants, located in Sicily and Calabria, are already covered by project financing provided by Intesa Sanpaolo and signed in August (see attached press release), enabling immediate commencement of construction works.

Fabio Amico, Business Development Director at GreenGo, commented: “This recognition highlights our ability to effectively manage both regulatory and technical complexities and to seize business opportunities in Italy’s energy transition, thanks to an extraordinary team fully integrated across the value chain. Given the conditions of the PNRR agrivoltaic call, this result once again proves GreenGo’s high standards of quality and reliability in diverse regions and with highly innovative technologies. As a new industrial player in the renewable energy landscape, we are laying the foundation for long-term development as an IPP: having already secured financial resources for the construction gives us strong confidence that we will complete and commission the plants by the end of 2025 — well ahead of the PNRR’s June 2026 deadline.”

The Selected Projects and the MASE Call for Innovative Agrivoltaics

Below are the details of the GreenGo-awarded projects:

  • Hyperion S.r.l., Soparita, Province of Catania: 7.95 MWp capacity
  • Solar Community S.r.l., Arango Plant, Province of Catanzaro: 6.71 MWp capacity
  • Uberna S.r.l., Margherita Plant, Province of Crotone: 8.28 MWp capacity

The plants are expected to generate 43.6 GWh annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of about 17,000 Italian households and a reduction of 14,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent per year.

The call, part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), promotes projects that combine agricultural activity with vertical mounting structures or high-efficiency PV modules, offering significant grants and feed-in tariffs for the energy produced.

Thanks to a successful bidding strategy, this recognition and the resulting opportunities reflect GreenGo’s goal of positioning itself at the forefront of the green economy, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and the efficiency of Italy’s energy transition.

Agrivoltaics as GreenGo’s Core Specialty

GreenGo holds a leading position in agrivoltaic innovation, with 48% of its total pipeline (a total of 1.8 GWp) dedicated to this cutting-edge technology. The simultaneous participation of three similarly sized projects in two different regions demonstrates the robustness of GreenGo’s renewable energy development system.

GreenGo’s strong focus on agrivoltaics also extends to the field of research through a collaboration with the University of Catania, financing a project led by the Di3A department aimed at identifying scientific models and best practices. This partnership allows exploration of new farming techniques under solar panels, optimizing agricultural and energy production in harmony.

About GreenGo

Founded in 2018 as a start-up, GreenGo has rapidly achieved significant milestones under the leadership of Engineer Giuseppe Mastropieri and the exceptional expertise and dedication of a high-profile team of professionals and managers. The company now includes 50 employees and collaborators, in addition to exclusive agents across Italy.

The private equity partnership with the Eiffel Essentiel Fund of Eiffel Investment Group, launched in 2022 with €7 million in capital and followed by a €15 million equity bridge investment in 2023, accelerated GreenGo’s growth, positioning the company as a leading player in utility-scale renewable energy development in Italy and Southern Europe. It is now advancing rapidly toward its goal of becoming an independent power producer (IPP), the core objective of its current business plan.

To date, GreenGo’s pipeline includes 85 renewable projects across 11 regions, totaling 1.82 GW, with 1.3 GW in the permitting phase, over 480 MW approved/RTB, and 42 MW under construction, thanks to the project financing signed with Intesa Sanpaolo in August 2024.

Since September 2023, GreenGo has been headquartered in the new S/PARK – Sustainability Workplace, located at Via G. Matteotti 31/2 in Bologna. The facility, commissioned and developed by Fimm S.R.L., GreenGo’s majority shareholder, represents a major redevelopment of a site of architectural and urban significance and serves as a landmark for the Italian green economy, hosting the Group’s operations and welcoming businesses, professionals, institutions, and the broader community.
